Lithuanian producer and DJ Zakmina makes his long-awaited return with the Takeshi EP on VIAVIA Records. Vilnius-based, Zakmina began collecting records and experimenting in the studio at an early age. His explorations have since shaped a sound that feels both familiar and forward-looking. With Takeshi EP, he once more showcases that balance: playful, raw, and dance-driven. Close to You dives into deep dub techno territory, built around percussive rhythms and an ethereal sampled vocal. Finally, Rotations closes the EP on a high note with a warm, deep house groove, melodic, uplifting, and unmistakably Milio. The label's kick-off release features its creator, Milio, a seasoned producer, live performer, and DJ. With this inaugural release, we aim to highlight the diverse expertise of this artist. 'Parade' is an energetic track that transports you back to the 90s through a time machine. 'Nobody' draws inspiration from dub house music, delivering a deep and immersive sound. The EP's title track, 'Monochrome,' began in 'Willem Twee Studios' in 's-Hertogenbosch,' Milio's hometown. This is a place he often visits for inspiration and to make recordings with vintage gear. The final track, named after the K2 mountain, presents a darker tone, designed for peak-time club moments. Given the prolific output, the real challenge lay in curating the perfect selection of tracks to effectively showcase the various facets of Milio's music—a goal we hope the Monochrome EP achieves. 2024, VIAVIA Records credits released March 15, 2024
