Born from isolation and pure creative focus, Juin / Haajer is the result of a week spent off-grid. Remy Unger and Nuno Dos Santos retreated to a house in nature, cutting themselves off from the outside world to fully immerse themselves in the making of this EP. No distractions, no deadlines, just machines, ideas, and instinct. Haajer captures the emotional core of that process. A deep, emotive techno cut built around Detroit-tinged chords and classic 909 drum sounds, it moves with subtle power. Minimal in elements yet rich in impact, every sound earns its place. The track unfolds patiently, drawing you into those intimate, late-night moments on the dance floor where connection runs deepest. With Juin, the energy shifts upward. Hypnotic and driving, it builds tension through layered rhythms before suddenly opening up with a massive resonant bass that hits with full force. It’s a track designed for impact, the kind that creates unexpected, unforgettable moments when the room locks into the groove. Adding another dimension to the EP, Escalated Edits delivers an ambient reinterpretation of Juin. Stripping back the pulse and leaning into the atmosphere, the remix transforms the track into a floating, immersive journey, a beautiful closing chapter that elevates the release even further. Milio returns to VIAVIA with Torpedo, a downtempo, synth-driven cut built on hypnotic acid lines and a gritty, rhythmic pulse. Powered by live drums performed by Casper van Helvoirt, the track moves through a rich stereo field with a textured, almost tactile feel. A large part of the creative process unfolded at the iconic Willem Twee studios, where Milio shaped its deep, resonant character. The release comes with two standout remixes. Space Dimension Controller delivers a twisted acid reinterpretation - mysterious, floaty, and spacious - maintaining the track’s slow-burn tempo while pushing it into a dreamy, drifting realm. Tifra elevates Torpedo into a 90s-tinged psychedelic journey, blending downtempo grooves with Goa-inspired energy. After a long summer in the studio, Partly Essential makes his debut on VIAVIA with Waas, a three-track EP that captures both introspection and momentum. The title track, Waas, sets the tone with an airy yet powerful energy. Driven and atmospheric, it builds patiently, shifting accents before coming together in a blissful climax. It’s the kind of track that feels equally suited for an evening set or something deeper into the night. Herstart takes a more hypnotic and driven route. Its rolling groove and focused rhythm push forward with purpose, creating a deep sense of momentum and release. To close the EP, Genex offers his Binnenlicht Reconstruction of Waas, reworking the original into a faster, more dynamic form. Lithuanian producer and DJ Zakmina makes his long-awaited return with the Takeshi EP on VIAVIA Records. Known for blending sounds from the past, present, and future into his own style, he now delivers a release of 90s house, grooves crafted straight for the floor. Vilnius-based, Zakmina began collecting records and experimenting in the studio at an early age. His explorations have since shaped a sound that feels both familiar and forward-looking. With Takeshi EP, he once more showcases that balance: playful, raw, and dance-driven. The title track, Vocoder Boi, draws inspiration from dubstep and is driven by raw textures crafted using a real vocoder, not for vocals, but as a sound design tool to shape its gritty, futuristic edge. Close to You dives into deep dub techno territory, built around percussive rhythms and an ethereal sampled vocal. Finally, Rotations closes the EP on a high note with a warm, deep house groove, melodic, uplifting, and unmistakably Milio. Laurier – Blue EP

The label's kick-off release features its creator, Milio, a seasoned producer, live performer, and DJ. With this inaugural release, we aim to highlight the diverse expertise of this artist. 'Parade' is an energetic track that transports you back to the 90s through a time machine. 'Nobody' draws inspiration from dub house music, delivering a deep and immersive sound. The EP's title track, 'Monochrome,' began in 'Willem Twee Studios' in 's-Hertogenbosch,' Milio's hometown. This is a place he often visits for inspiration and to make recordings with vintage gear. The final track, named after the K2 mountain, presents a darker tone, designed for peak-time club moments. Given the prolific output, the real challenge lay in curating the perfect selection of tracks to effectively showcase the various facets of Milio's music—a goal we hope the Monochrome EP achieves. 2024, VIAVIA Records credits released March 15, 2024
